A Beginners Guide to Three Card Poker

Three card poker is an easy game to learn and play and is one of the most fun casino games around. It is a simplistic game that involves no competition between players so friendships can quickly form amongst players as they cheer each other on to beat the dealer.

We’ve put the basics here to help you learn how to play three card poker. Rainbow Casino staff will also be more than happy to give you one-to-one tutorials before you begin to play, whether this be teaching you from scratch or refreshing your current knowledge.

What to know

  • The player must make an ante or pair plus bet
  • The dealer will give each player, and themselves, three cards. All cards will be placed face down and you can only look at your own cards.
  • If you have made the ante bet, you must fold or play. Folding will forfeit your ante wager, and play will mean you must make an additional bet that is equal to your ante bet.
  • The dealer will then turn over their cards, and will need queen-high or better to qualify.
  • If they do not qualify, you will win even money on the ante bet and the play bet is a push.
  • If the dealer does qualify, your hand will be compared to theirs and the best one will win.
  • If your hand is better, you will win even money on the ante and play bet.
  • However, if the dealer’s hand is better, both of your ante and play bets will lose.
  • In the result of a tie, then both the ante and play bets are a push.
  • If your hand is a flush or better, you will receive an ante bonus, regardless of the dealer’s hand.
