National Pizza Day takes place on the 9th February. Pizza is arguably one of the best meals on the planet and has been enjoyed by most people, at some point. Here are some interesting facts about this food.

The most expensive pizza in the world costs $12,000 (£9,420)

Luis XIII in Salerno, Italy has the world’s most expensive pizza. So, what do you get for this amount of money? A personal Chef will arrive to your home with dough that has been aged to perfection. Other ingredients include, three types of caviar, Norwegian lobster and pink Australian sea-salt from the Murray River.

Pepperoni is the most popular topping

In the UK, 36% of all pizza orders include a pepperoni topping. Considering that there are over 5,842 pizza places across the UK, you can only imagine how much all that pepperoni would weigh if it was put on a scale.

Plenty of famous people got their start making and delivering pizzas for a living. Mutli-award winning singer, Pink worked at Pizza Hut. Ghostbusters Actor, Bill Murray worked at a pizza restaurant and X- Factor star, Leona Lewis also sold pizza.
