If you’re planning on visiting a casino and fancy trying your hand at roulette, you’ll need to understand how to play first. Roulette wheels are an iconic casino image. While it may appear confusing, the game of roulette is actually very easy to pick up.

The roulette objective is to pick the number on the wheel where you think the spinning ball will land. You can also bet on multiple numbers, red or black and whether the number will be odd or even.

Wheels

A European wheels has 37 slot numbers, ranging from 0-36.

Layouts

The inside betting area of a roulette wheel contains the individual numbers. The outside betting area features the red/black, odd/even and different groups of numbers. The numbers on the inside are arranged in twelve rows of three numbers, forming three columns. The 0 and 00 (in America) are at the top of the columns.

Chips

Each roulette player receives a different colour table chip. Chips can be used at the table you are at only, and can be cashed in for regular chips once the game is over. Roulette table chips cannot be cashed in for money. Each roulette table will have a minimum and maximum bet. If the minimum bet is 50p, a 50p bet must be placed on the inside and/or a £5 bet on the outside.
